This online-only open-world title features missions you can undertake solo or with a group of friends; a squad with a maximum of 4 players. You get to equip exosuits called Javelins which vary in mobility and the kind of weaponry they can be equipped with. They also have their own special abilities.

Although missions resemble the main core made for advancing through the story, there are also other things you can do. If you’d like to explore and uncover the game’s open-world then you can do so via Freeplay mode. Javelins allow you to fly and see beautiful environments from above. Strongholds are like dungeons; challenging areas which, if your squad manages to get through, yield substantial rewards.

As in any BioWare game, this one also has you interact with various characters. Unlike previous works from the developer, Anthem only lets you make friendships; nothing further than that. Being an online game, the world of Anthem will over time change with a variety of different events.
