Tomb Raider Series

Uncharted possibly wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for this fantastic franchise. Yet over the years, Uncharted has also managed to influence Tomb Raider, specifically the rebooted titles from 2013 and onwards. The iconic and adventurous character Lara Croft has received many entries that stand out in their own ways. Get ready to raid tombs, experience action-packed gameplay and solve a variety of puzzles as you parkour your way through diverse and detailed environments. The locations in newer titles especially look amazing, but that doesn’t mean you may not enjoy the older ones, too. Whatever the case if you’re looking for similar games to Uncharted then the Tomb Raider action-adventure games might be your best pick.
Horizon Zero Dawn game preview

Horizon Zero Dawn

Unlike the Uncharted games, Horizon Zero Dawn features an open-world, and thus plenty of more content. The machine-ridden world looks absolutely stunning, full off vegetation that is visually on par, if not better than the Uncharted games. In this third-person title you play as a hunter named Aloy, who must sneak and fight her way past various robots. You can take on these machines using traps, your trusty bow and more. Featuring a full day & night cycle, a dynamic weather system and diverse environments to explore, Horizon Zero Dawn continuously stays exciting. If you’re looking for another great adventure to take on, one more open and infested with robots, then this PS4 title is a perfect choice.
Assassin's Creed Series game preview

Assassin's Creed Series

The Assassin’s Creed franchise is one of, if not the biggest video game series around. Some titles go so far in theme and gameplay that some might not even consider them as an Assassin’s Creed game, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a whole lot of fun. From the debut title to the Ezio trilogy and onwards, all of these open-world parkour adventures are packed with detailed historical areas to explore. There’s a bit for everyone, even RPG-like gameplay can be found in Origins and Odyssey, with Odyssey even featuring a mode for creating your own quests, a first for the franchise. If you’re looking for true Assassins gameplay, then entries such as the first, the second with its expansions and Unity are certainly ones that’ll immerse you with their parkouring and stealth.
The Last Of Us game preview

The Last of Us

Made by the same developers of the Uncharted games, The Last of Us is just as impressive as Naughty Dog’s famous franchise. In this third-person survival horror game you shoot your way through a beautiful post-apocalyptic world as a survivor named Joel. But Joel isn’t the only character you’ll get to control throughout the well-crafted experience. Joel is accompanied by Ellie, a 14-year old girl which Joel is actually hired to keep safe as well as to escort her out of the dangerous zone she’s in. In a world where everyone is trying to survive, you’ll have to face other survivors scavenging for food and weapons; but humans may not be the only ones that pose a threat. Careful use of stealth and various weapons is crucial in this amazing adventure with memorable characters and top-notch writing.
Far Cry Series game preview

Far Cry Series

It might not be a franchise with a constant central protagonist like Nathan Drake nor in third-person, but it’s a franchise packed with diverse, exotic locations to explore and great FPS gameplay to experience. Stunning landscapes and vegetation can be seen throughout, as you hunt animals and craft useful items. How you attack enemies and their outposts is up to you: arms blazing or stealth takedowns, or both, are valid options. If you’re looking for emergent gameplay while playing through stories with interesting, and crazy characters, then don’t miss out on the bombastic Far Cry series.
Dead Space Series game preview

Dead Space Series

The Dead Space games are much scarier than the Uncharted ones. That is no surprise, as these are survival horror games and good ones too, at that. These third-person games with an over-the-shoulder camera take place in space, in scary, dark ships. As engineer Isaac Clarke you’ll explore these areas and face horrifying alien creatures. Carefully use ammunition and upgrade your suit and weapons at workstations. If you don’t mind jumping into an intense horror journey and are a horror fan, then you’ll certainly enjoy playing the trilogy. Don’t expect any new entries though, as the studio behind it has unfortunately been shut down by EA.
Just Cause Series game preview

Just Cause Series

Don’t expect any linearity in the Just Cause games, third-person action-packed sandbox titles where you play as Rico Rodriguez wreaking havoc on various beautiful open-worlds. These environments are typically vibrant archipelagos, with the exception of Just Cause 4 which takes place on a fictional country called Solis that features more diverse biomes. The franchise is known for its enjoyable exploration and free-form gameplay, where you can go skydiving, grapple onto cars and more. Another thing this series is famous for is: explosions. With great physics across all games, making buildings explode is a joy, and the game gears you up with tools and vehicles to do so. If you’re looking to take down some mercenaries and blow up their outposts, then the Just Cause games are an excellent choice, especially the 2nd and 3rd entry.
Quantum Break game preview

Quantum Break

If you’re looking for more cinematic gameplay, then you don’t want to miss out on Quantum Break, a third-person adventure with time-manipulating mechanics. Use various time-bending abilities in action and off it. Apart from manipulating time, Quantum Break sticks out with its full-fledged action TV show that actually lasts like an episode would, meaning that you get to play a highly-detailed game, and watch some great live action episodes that further progress the story. An episode can be influenced too by making a choice at the start of it. Overall, it’s a very well-made adventure that doesn’t overstay its welcome, somewhat the length of an Uncharted title.
Batman: Arkham Asylum game preview

Batman: Arkham Series

Don’t expect to actually lethally shoot and kill the thugs standing in your way, but do expect an amazing journey that excellently captures the feeling of what it’d be like to be the Caped Crusader. The combat is fluid and top-notch, featuring various different combos to make and a variety of enemies to make things a bit challenging. Each game gets progressively larger both in world design and content. Gameplay and exploration also is improved throughout each third-person entry, with new enemy types, new villains to beat and new cool gadgets to use. Just like the Uncharted games, the Batman Arkham games manage to excel in every way, so if you’re looking for a franchise with a consistent storyline, combo-based action gameplay and detailed environments, then these Batman games certainly don’t disappoint.
