Games Like Bastion
There are many features in games like Bastion that might keep you playing from beginning to end. It could be the polished and compelling gameplay filled with diverse abilities to use in battle. Maybe it’s the immersive story told in ways you’re not normally accustomed to.
Bastion has all of this, and more. It sports a hand-painted colorful 2D world that’s no longer in one piece due to a disaster called the Calamity. As you uncover more about this catastrophe you’ll go from level to level engaging in fast-paced combat, using weapons you can upgrade and dodging enemy attacks by rolling. You get to carry two weapons, requiring you to carefully choose which one you’d like to use when you get the chance.
This isometric action RPG does storytelling in a way not occasionally seen. While you play as the protagonist referred to as the Kid, a narrator with great voice acting reacts to your actions during the course of the game, not only story-related ones but also moments you wouldn’t mostly expect. If you think you’ll have a hard time fighting enemies, then you can start the game in ‘No-Sweat Mode’ and easily enjoy the narrative.
Throughout the game, you’ll get to collect Cores which are used for unlocking buildings in the Bastion, a place you visit after every level. These buildings unlock various things, such as side content, upgrading and more. The buildings themselves can be upgraded using Shards.
With a remarkable soundtrack on top of all, Bastion is an outstanding story-driven journey. If you haven’t played Bastion yet but are into games that put emphasis on storytelling, then Bastion is for you. But if you’ve already played it and are looking for more quality titles then take a look at this list of similar games down below.
